Chapter 11

If Destiny had to choose the best perk she got for working with Organic Ascendancy, it would not be difficult. Choosing the worst part or the most difficult part would be very hard. There was the fact that she often had to fight zombies. Sometimes she had been asked to work with and even kneel before demons. At least to this point she had not been tasked with making nice with actual zombies. Only once had she been slimed by the nasty bastards. Their blood was like black ooze and she wanted as little of that crap on her body as possible. That did lead her back to appreciating the best thing about working here though. For all the negative things, she would do twice what she had done so far to be able to enjoy a nice warm shower.

O.A. had been able to guarantee a complete hold on the largest underground water source in all of North America a long time ago. No one knew exactly how important that would be of course until the zombie virus outbreak happened. It was the single most important thing they enjoyed as well as the most dangerous thing about them. More teams of desperate humans had come attacking this place because of knowledge of the water source than anything else. How exactly anyone learned about the place or even found it at all was beyond her but no one really was a threat. If a team of fighters was good enough to make a dent in the perimeter O.A. forces, a quick offer to allow them all the water they wanted upon joining the cause would put a stop to all fighting. The few remaining healthy humans would do anything for water, including selling their soul to Organic Ascendancy.

Destiny didn't have to worry about selling her soul because as far as she could tell, she didn't have one. So many times over the last several years she had pretended to be someone else or something else for her masters that she felt fortunate to even remember who she was at all. The feeling that rushed through her body when she received a boost of stims recently was twice as good as a gallon of the purest water on earth. Once her nerves grew calmer she hopped into a hot shower to wash the nastiness off of her lean and strong body.

She finally felt clean enough to call herself finished and exited the shower. Drying herself off was a matter of seconds and she threw a thin robe on and walked into her main quarters.

“Agent Destiny,” a voice said from her doorway, “Dr. Cain requests your presence in Dr. Isaiah's lab immediately.”

Destiny glanced over and saw a young man standing there averting his eyes when he saw the clothing condition she was in.

“Oh,” he said nervously, “Sorry ma'am. She requests your presence immediately after you are dressed.”

Destiny loved nervous little boy toys like this. She opened her robe and walked over to him.
